Tragedy is not the time for politicizing an issue...still there are comments that must be made...

Having grown up in S. Florida I am very familiar with the plight of the Haitian people and the general condition of that island nation. While working in the construction industry for some years I had the opportunity to work alongside many Haitian refugees who had come here seeking a better life. There is no question in my mind that we need to get going immediately to work with the people of Haiti to alleviate as much suffering and help as many people as possible.

Let me be clear, however, on the overall state of the nation and its leadership. I say this because we accept many refugees from that country it is an item that touches on the national interests of America.

The aid that we provide must be targeted at the "people" of Haiti and must be closely monitored to insure that the corrupt and oppressive leadership of that country does not benefit from or misuse that aid. If the leadership of that country wishes to get assistance they should seek it from the other socialists and thugs that they are so fond of such as Castro and Chavez. If it is revealed that one dime of our nations aid goes to the leadership or bureaucrats in that country then every member of our government should be impeached for malfeasance.

Let's help the "people" of Haiti in this time of trial and great tragedy but not one red cent for the dictators that make their lives a tragedy the rest of the time.
