Some of you may be wondering what Judge Roy Moore has been doing since he was removed from the bench for refusing to remove the Ten Commandments from his courtroom wall. Please read the poem he wrote.
Judge Moore was sued by the ACLU for displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom foyer. He has been stripped of his judgeship and now they are trying to strip his right to practice law in Alabama ! The judge’s poem sums it up quite well.
America? the beautiful,
or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrims’ pride;
I’m glad they’ll never see.
Babies piled in dumpsters,
Abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty;
your house is on the sand.
Our children wander aimlessly
poisoned by cocaine
choosing to indulge their lusts,
when God has said abstain
From sea to shining sea,
our Nation turns away
From the teaching of God’s love
and a need to always pray
We’ve kept God in our
temples, how callous we have grown.
When earth is but His footstool,
and Heaven is His throne.
We’ve voted in a government
that’s rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges;
who throw reason out the door,
Too soft to place a killer
in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby
before he leaves the womb.
You think that God’s not angry,
that our land’s a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait
before His judgment comes?
How are we to face our God,
from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do,
but stem this evil tide?
If we who are His children,
will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face
and mend our evil way:
Then God will hear from Heaven;
and forgive us of our sins,
He’ll heal our sickly land
and those who live within.
But, America the Beautiful,
If you don’t – then you will see,
A sad but Holy God
withdraw His hand from Thee..

We live in a world where greedy people use unscrupulous methods to reap dishonest gain. Pretended good is often an effective cloak for evil. Leaders can use their authority and gifts to help others or to take advantage of them.
We are all too familiar with bad news reports concerning government leaders and executives. People rise to power and then use their influence and control to enrich themselves at the expense of others. If caught, the offenders typically can hire high-powered attorneys to secure a reduced sentence if not to get them off completely. Unfortunately even ministers sometimes abuse their position to satisfy desires.
In many cases individuals become corrupt only after they reach high positions of power and influence. What they learn and do early in life typically sets the tone for how they will live. When they receive too much change, they smile to themselves and walk away without telling the cashier. They learn to bully others to get their own way. They become experienced at hiding what they are really doing and thinking behind a false appearance of concern for others. We should examine our motives in the home, the workplace, and the church to make sure we do not exploit others. Our Heavenly Father expects us to be honest and to carry out our God-given responsibilities in a way that pleases Him.
In a sense all adult believers today function as leaders. All of us set examples for others, and we all have opportunities to guide and direct those watching us. Some of these people are in our families or at our workplaces. Others we meet in social or church environments. The question we must keep in front of us concerns what kind of examples and influence we provide. Does it measure up to the ethical standards God has revealed in His word? The same applies to our spiritual leaders.
Greed and materialism continue to shape the messages of many false religious leaders in our day. Many offer cures or guaranteed prosperity if contributors will give money to them.
Spiritual leaders today also need to be warned by the example of those in Micah’s day. The love of money offers many temptations that can corrupt a pure ministry. The fear of rejection can lead some to preach or teach only those principles that people want to hear. Avoiding talking about sin and judgment is a way to be popular with sinners but not with God. We must always convey the truth without regard for the cost. There can be no permanent success when we suppress the truth of God’s Word.
Corruption continues to be a major problem in our world, demanding vigilance and oversight by authorities. When the government becomes complicit in the bribery, justice is not possible.
Money and greed have historically been the cause of much of the corruption in the judicial system. A major source of misery around the world continues to be governments that allow or participate in a corrupt judicial system.
Religious institutions and ministries are not immune from the temptations of greed as well. The Lord calls us to live with integrity and to act and speak with justice and righteousness in every situation regardless of cultural acceptance of godless practices.
The Lord does not provide magic charms to ensure our safety and security. Instead He tells us to trust Him alone, to follow Him, and to live with justice, righteousness, and compassion. We please the Lord in fulfilling God-given responsibilities by affirming our accountability to Him.

When we talk about the liberals in politics today we wonder where they came from. The answer is they come from grade school right on through the halls of higher education. These places of education have been systematically deprived of God’s influence and truth.
Abraham Lincoln said, “The Philosophy of the school room in one generation…will be the Philosophy of Government in the next. Thomas Jefferson said, “A nation that refuses to teach its children right from wrong, good from evil, will become a corrupt nation, where sin prevails, evil abounds and children do as they please!” When those children grow up and become leaders, corruption and tyranny will become the norm. America will move away from freedom to a state which has more control and restrictions on its citizens. Are we seeing any of this today?
Ben Franklin made this warning, “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.” Our future freedoms are directly related to public education which should include teaching of moral values. From the time the Pilgrims landed in 1620 until the Supreme Court rulings of 1963, (a span of 343 years) School prayer and Bible reading was considered religious freedoms! Why did this change? I would like to validate my position with the following information. In 1636 Harvard College is founded by John Harvard, a Presbyterian minister. In 1693 Rev. James Blair establishes William and Mary College to train ministers. In 1699 Yale University was founded by 10 ministers. In 1746 Princeton was founded by Presbyterians. In 1769 Dartmouth College is established. Of the first 108 colleges and universities founded in America, 106 were founded as Christian schools. Over the course of time the Christian founded, Christian based schools have become bastions of liberalism.
In 1642, 1781, 1887, 1802, 1844, 1890 and 1925 the Congress and the Supreme Court made decisions and passed laws allowing reading the Bible in school and teaching morals and religious training.
In 1948 things started to change. The Supreme Court rules time set aside for prayer in public schools is unconstitutional. In 1962 the Supreme Court rules that children may not recite state written prayer in school. In 1963 the Supreme Court bans individual school prayer and Bible reading in public schools. In 1980 Supreme Court rules that the 10 Commandments cannot be posted in classrooms because children may read them and obey them. In 1992 the Supreme Court rules clergy may not offer prayer at graduation ceremonies. In 2000 the Supreme Court rules student led prayer at football games is unconstitutional.
All of the schools in the beginning were Christian based in their teaching, using the Bible to a great extent. This all started to change in 1948 with McCollum vs. Board of Education. Even better known is the 1963 case of Murray v Curlett. In this popular case a militant left wing atheist with close ties to the American Communist party named Madelyn Murray O’Hair filed a lawsuit against the school board of Baltimore After being defeated in the lower courts the case ended up in the Supreme Court.
To the surprise of many, the National Council of Churches and several Jewish organizations favored O’Hair’s case. Not a single Christian organization filed a brief to support school prayer.
From this point on the government had basically free rein to change the message and method of teaching the future generations. God had been taken out of the schools and parents were slowly removed from the education picture. A process of dumbing down students was begun. Text books were changed to express liberal views. Teachers taught students that there were no wrong answers, if it seems right to you its O.K… History that is taught was changed to comply with liberal points of view which meant students’ did not get a true and accurate account of American or World History which explains the misconception about our rights and freedoms today. At this point a new term showed up. “Politically Correct.” Discipline was a thing of the past and eventually the campus became a battleground. I don’t have room on this blog for the whole story, but I hope you get the picture, or at least part of it. I want to leave you with this thought. The battle we are in is very real and critical. If you let the enemy take God away from you …… you cannot win!
God Bless
The Poppy

This expresses the basis for my interest in conservative politics, and will not dwell on the religion, rather hope to offer some brief comments to inform and help these good men in the Garage to further the cause, and the dire need to take our country back to the divinely inspired beginnings of our ‘republic’

My friend Keith, the Common Patriot has invited me to make a comment on occasion, and made note although very religious, he said “we all know how important God and religion are in our lives, but the purpose of this blog is more for the political conservative or opposing views”. Of course Keith made it known that both are intertwined, but the religious should not be the main focus.
As I was reading this poem received recently from Judge Roy Moore of Alabama, with whom some of you may have forgotten about. He was the judge driven from his judgeship bench by actions of the ACLU for refusing to take the Ten Commandments out of his court room.
His poem in my view exemplifies what I feel as a patriotic American what many of us hold near and dear to our hearts. I love our country and will begin my occasional blog entries with this basic, beautiful expression of one man’s love of country.
